Virtusales ensures its client publishers are ready for ONIX 3.0 | 22/07/2010 |
At a recent BIC meeting, Virtusales was noted as being one of the first software suppliers to send ONIX 3.0 test feeds. Nielsen Bookdata confirmed that they had received successful feeds from only four publishers, two of whom were Virtusales’ customers; Penguin and Random House. BIC also confirmed that a number of publishers and systems suppliers had deferred implementing ONIX 3.0 until next year, proving that Virtusales truly is leading the way with this latest industry standard.
In addition to a new ONIX 3.0 compliant feed, the latest ONIX developments also include complimentary functionality to help publishers produce valid and complete ONIX 3.0 feeds. The new Diagnostic report identifies any titles with invalid or missing data required to generate a valid ONIX 3.0 feed, while Biblio’s new ONIX wizard highlights what data is being sent for each title and directs users to complete or correct appropriate information within Biblio before it is sent out.
As the demand for rich, reliable and accurate metadata becomes more vital, Virtusales continues to keep it's client publishers at the forefront of new technological developments and industry standards. Virtusales is committed to keeping its client publishers up to date and ahead of the industry by providing the latest industry standards such as ONIX updates free of charge.
