The Random House Group
In the UK,The Random House Group Limited is comprised of four divisions with different publishing remits: Random House, Transworld, Ebury and Random House Children's Books. The Group is the largest general book publishing company in the country.

The Penguin Group
One of the biggest names in Publishing, Penguin Books was founded in 1935 by Allen Lane, with the intention of making high quality, reasonably priced, contemporary fiction available in bookshops, railway stations, tobacconists and chain stores. Today, Penguin has over 5,000 titles in print at any one time, and is home to such diverse imprints as Frederick Warne, Ladybird, Michael Joseph, Puffin and Rough Guides.
Dorling Kindersley
Founded in 1974, Dorling Kindersley (DK) started life as a book packager, and is now widely regarded as the world's leading family illustrated publisher, specializing in reference books for adults and children in 51 languages. In 2000, DK was taken over by the Pearson PLC media company, which also owns Penguin Books.
Faber & Faber
Faber and Faber is one of the last of the great independent publishing houses in London. It has played an important part in twentieth century British and world literature, publishing widely in the fields of novels and literary criticism, as well as poetry and dramaturgy.

Walker Books
Founded in 1978 by Sebastian Walker, Walker Books is Britain's leading independent publisher of high quality books for children of all ages. The company now produces over 300 paperback and hardback titles a year, more than any other children's book publisher in the UK.

Candlewick Press
Candlewick Press are based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and publish children’s books for readers of all ages. Created in 1991, they have received more than 300 accolades and honors, and have been named "the fastest growing children’s publisher in the U.S." by Publishers Weekly.

Egmont UK
Originally set up as a printing business over 130 years ago Egmont UK is part of the Egmont Group, one of Scandinavia’s leading media groups. Selling 28 million books and magazines solely for children each year, Egmont is number two in the UK children’s book and magazine market.

Canongate Books
Since October 1994, when Canongate Books became independent again following a management buyout, they have emerged as one of the most dynamic publishing houses in Britain. Based in Edinburgh, Canongate continues to nurture and publish new talent from around the world.

Hay House UK
Founded in 1984 by Louise L. Hay to self-publish her first two books, Hay House was incorporated as a US company in 1987 and later set up the UK office in February 2003. Hay House is now an international leader in self-help and transformational publishing, with sales of books, audios and videos to 33 countries around the world.

Ian Allan Publishing
Founded in 1942, Ian Allan are the world's leading transport publishers producing high quality illustrated titles and magazines. Dedicated to transport throughout history, military, civil aviation, naval and maritime, and leisure, Ian Allan also have four bookshops across the UK.

Atlantic Books
Based in London, Atlantic Books are an imprint of the American Publisher; Grove Atlantic. Their books are available throughout the UK, Austrailia, New Zealand and the Commonwealth.

Constable and Robinson
In 1999, Constable & Co Ltd and Robinson Publishing Ltd merged into a single company, Constable & Robinson Ltd. Publishing a huge range of titles including biography and autobiography, current affairs and world politics, general and military history, health and psychology, travel, landscape photography, crime fiction and literary fiction.

Profile Books
Founded in 1996 to publish stimulating non-fiction Profile Books published their first million copy seller, Eats, Shoots & Leaves by Lynne Truss in 2003. In 2007, Profile acquired Serpent’s Tail, bringing together two of the most distinctive, highly regarded and fiercely independent small publishers in London.

The Book Service Ltd
TBS, The Book Service Ltd is Britain's largest book distributor. They are used by 50 different imprints and distribute annually 100 million books.

Granta Books
Granta began its literary life as a student magazine born out of Cambridge University in 1889. Now over a hundred years later, Granta is still famous for publishing inspiring and thought provoking literature from some of the world’s finest writers. Portobello Books is also run out of Granta’s offices and was short-listed for Independent Publisher of the year in 2009.

Bloomsbury Publishing
Founded in 1986 by Nigel Newton, Bloomsbury Publishing is a leading independent publisher and winner of the 1999 and 2000 Publisher of the Year awards. Bloomsbury publishing has offices in the United Kingdom, United States and Europe and includes such renowned publishers and imprints as A&C Black, Arden Shakespeare, Berg, Bloomsbury Academic, Bloomsbury Professional, Berlin Verlag, Bloomsbury USA and Walker & Company.
